Legrand delivers unparalleled user experience across its product lines through exceptional interface design

WEST HARTFORD, Conn., (September 8, 2014) — Legrand continues to enhance the user experience with new product advancements across its entire portfolio products. From intuitive design and consistent programming, Legrand is ensuring that its installer network and their customers receive an optimal experience. This initiative will be visible at CEDIA EXPO 2014, where Middle Atlantic, NuVo, On-Q and Vantage exhibit together in Booth 330 at the Colorado Convention Center, from September 11 – 13, 2014.

As a global leader of power, light and data solutions, extensive research and development efforts have been implemented across Legrand’s portfolio to ensure that its user experiences reflect innovative and intuitive design; are capable of adjusting with homeowner lifestyle changes and allow for streamlined support.

“Legrand has utilized ethnographic market research that delves into the mindset of our customers and lifestyles of the end-users to better understand the role that the interface component plays in creating the optimal user to product experience,” said Phillip Prestigomo, Director of Industrial Design and User Experience at Legrand, North America. “From these findings, we have implemented new screen flow techniques and bridged the gap between customer expectations and what our products deliver.”

According to Prestigomo, delivering the exceptional user experience begins with optimizing the assets available to dealers, who serve as a critical initial point of contact with the brand. Legrand’s efforts to streamline system design and programming for the dealer enables them to create consistent, standardized interfaces that still offer homeowners a personalized, custom system. These interfaces empower the customer with the confidence to interact with and navigate their way through the system with ease – which lessens the need for support calls and increases both customer satisfaction and profitability for the dealer.

The following products, all showcased at CEDIA 2014, exemplify Legrand’s commitment to best-in-class user experiences for dealers and their customers in the custom installation marketplace:

·         Vantage’s Equinox 41 features a sleek and continuous glass LCD touchscreen, which employs presence detection and light sensors to automatically wake-up to a desired personalized scenario, and adjusts to ambient light conditions. Equinox 41 users will enjoy a richer animated control system interface experience through a prescribed control environment featuring 12 pre-programmed widgets. Navigation is simple, with just the swipe or tap of a finger.

·         The NuVo Player Portfolio app has been designed as the centerpiece of the entire multi-room audio system, and features customizable naming for sources and zones. These permit the system to be fully setup directly from the app and give installers the ability to create a uniquely recognizable solution for the end-user to control. Easily identifiable zone icons and touch control with drag and drop capabilities make it both intuitive and fun to use. The app is free and easily downloadable from both the iOS app store and Google Play.

·         The On-Q Digital Audio System app creates a perfect control solution to complement in-room keypads. The free app, which can be easily downloaded from the iOS app store and Google Play, quickly recognizes the home system and offers full system control from a single interface. As part of the overall system, the app recognizes commands sent from the in-room keypads and reflects those changes instantly. Its speed, simple to use interface and customizable buttons add to its appeal.

·         Middle Atlantic’s web-based configuration tool provides installers and system designers with a simplified and personalized design experience.  Available 24 hours, 7 days a week on the company’s site, the new configuration platform allows for quick and efficient selection of the right products and accessories for a great system. The configurator features a fluid drag-and-drop interface for quick and precise equipment arrangements; life-like project design images for use in proposals; two user modes that accommodate beginner and expert navigation; and the capacity to save, store, share or export designs and project quotes.

These products represent a selection of Legrand’s design efforts implemented toward enhancing the user experience. Legrand continues to monitor trends and the ever-changing consumer behavior and keep its products on the cutting edge of UI technologies to meet the needs of its customers worldwide.
